A few weeks ago the fashion press reported that Miuccia Prada and Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell would collaborate on a short film to be presented during Milan Fashion Week at Prada‘s spring runway event.
Lucky Caroline Issa—wearing the Nordstrom Signature and Caroline Issa stretch silk peplum dress she helped design—was there to see it all, so we got her download on the most vital elements.

What was the invitation like for this one and what kind of vibe did it set up for you?
Four sheets of card with four small random indents on the same spot, where a spiderweb elastic of four prongs held the bunch together—each was printed with a still from the David O. Russell film he and Mrs. Prada worked on, so it was a nice teaser!

What have you come to expect and anticipate about Prada shows? What do you hope for going into them?
You can always assume to be totally surprised and delighted.
What was your first impression as the models emerged?
There’s a lot of feathers in the collections this season and when the first few looks came out at Prada it felt so light and sporty and easy—even though at the same time, they also felt super luxe.
What was your favorite color story?
All the pale pastels!
What kind of woman is Mrs. Prada speaking to for spring ’17?
She’s a true individual; someone strong willed and powerful.
Where do you imagine these clothes going?
The ballet. The gym. The playground.
How to did the music and set design play in?
Frederic Sanchez always does an amazing job with the soundtrack; he told me he was inspired by Hitchcock when scoring and mixing the music.
What piece will you be dreaming about until these pieces drop?
The feather trimmed trousers!
