Megan shares her and Brian’s destination wedding with an autumnal palette, stunning views and a beautiful Vera Wang wedding gown.

Our Location & Theme: The Valley Club in Sun Valley, Idaho. Set on two golf courses at the base of the mountains, it’s one of our favorite places and was completely picturesque.

As we had a fall wedding, our colors were navy and charcoal for attire, coral for flowers and napkins, and sage for invitations, programs and table numbers. I loved the long Jenny Yoo bridesmaid gowns and let each bridesmaid select whichever style she liked. The guys wore their own charcoal suits with Hugo Boss ties and whimsical Paul Smith socks, both in navy. It was nice to have a bright pop of color with the flowers and napkins.

One DIY touch that our guests really enjoyed was our gift baskets. Since it was a destination wedding, we had four days of events. The baskets contained a map and list of events and activities, as well as local treats, water and splits of prosecco. We did these instead of wedding favors and they were a hit!

Favorite/Special Moments: There were so many special moments throughout the wedding, it’s hard to pick one! The end of the ceremony and our first kiss were pretty incredible. Not only was I officially starting my life with Brian, but I had successfully made it through all the planning and the ceremony and could relax and enjoy the rest of our wedding.  :)

The Dress: I tried on over 50 dress styles and designers and knew as soon as I tried on Vera Wang’s Hannah dress that there was something different. It felt elegant and bridal and when I saw myself in the mirror, I thought: “This is the dress I will get married in!” We affectionately call it the “cupcake dress” because it looks like a beautiful pastry or mini cake when I sit, but is also stunning and flattering when I stand.

Advice for Brides-to-Be: Have a day-of coordinator or wedding planner! I am a very organized person and planned every last detail with the florist, the venue, the photographer and DJ. But even with all that preparation, on the big day issues came up that I was too busy and flustered to address. I was so thankful that Molly—one of my bridesmaids and wedding planner extraordinaire—was there to save the day. I wish I had hired her to do more planning and reduce my stress!

My other piece of advice is to get all the bridal magazines and tear out the pages with items you like. It was so helpful when planning with my vendors to have visuals, at least for a baseline.

The Honeymoon: We took a mini-moon to Sonoma for a couple of days after the wedding to decompress and enjoy our first few days of married life together. We’re planning a proper honeymoon to Europe later this year.
