Our social media era may be the golden age of fashion icons, and L.A.-based Chriselle Lim is one of the most well-known. Lim shares outfit inspiration, skin-care advice, fitness tips and travel adventures on her YouTube channel and blog, The Chriselle Factor, as well as on Instagram, where she has a million followers. A former stylist, Lim is as comfortable in front of the camera as she is behind it. Recently she’s broadened her resumé to include creative director and co-founder of CINC Studios, her own content production company.
Now Lim is partnering with J.O.A. on a fashion collection for busy, modern women that’s inspired by style icons like Audrey Hepburn and Bianca Jagger. Here, she shares what we’ll all be shopping.
Tell us how this collaboration came about.
I’ve been shopping J.O.A. pieces for years now mainly because of the wide variety of styles along with the great prices and quality. When they approached me about creating a collection, my answer was obvious since I was already a fan of their line. The team understood me, my style and my vision. There was mutual excitement and passion between both parties.
Where did you get your ideas for the designs?
The inspiration came first from my trips to Rome. I fell in love with the rustic romance of the city and couldn’t get enough of the colorful walls there. Audrey Hepburn in the movie Roman Holiday is my absolute favorite. The Roman Gold midi dress in the collection was inspired by that film. I felt like it would be a dress that she would wear!
Which pieces from the collection have you been wearing the most?
I’ve worn the trench dress a ton since you can wear it as a dress, an open trench, even as a long blouse. I get so many compliments on it—it’s classic but still super modern and stylish. I’ve been wearing the matching Roman Gold pieces a lot, too. I can’t get enough of this color as it screams vacation and gives me a natural glow.
The Quince Blossom dress and top are also my favorites from the collection. I say every girl must have a statement piece, and the floral dress is the perfect one to take on vacation, to a wedding or to just throw on for the beach.
