The Spring 2015 fashion fest wrapped up with shows from three of America’s most iconic designers. Here are some highlights from yesterday’s runways, including safari glam at Ralph Lauren, polished sport at Calvin Klein, and uniform play at Marc Jacobs.
Ralph Lauren described his collection as “an exotic kind of luxury, the spirit of a romantic safari emboldened by luminous colors played against the heritage of pure khakis in sleek and modern shapes.”
Metal moment: Lauren’s burnished leather bags and sandals had a dusty, luxe effect.
Calvin Klein creative director Francisco Costa honored the label’s signature minimalist, languid lines, but stamped this collection with unexpected elements like perforated cherry leather and shimmering shapes.
Gaucho marks: Costa paired the season’s It pants with tailored tunics for starkly elegant looks.
Sleek silver accents, Lucite heels and juicy patent leather defined Costa’s shoe direction.
Marc Jacobs staged a gorgeously wacky show, juxtaposing offbeat ‘uniforms’ in a neutral, severe palette against a bubble-gum pink backdrop. Drapey looks were dotted with button shapes of all sizes, and lengths, for the most part, were long.
Are Scholl’s the new Birks? Jacobs waved his wand over the retro style for a fresh, fun spring sandal. Bags came in all shapes and sizes, often shown layered in a ‘why choose?’ approach.
