Holiday shopping: it might be the most wonderful difficult thing in the world. Equal parts super fun and pretty stressful, choosing just the right surprise for your favorite people on the planet can make you a little crazy if you let it—but that’s where we come in.
Designer sales person Felicia Stapleton would love to give you one of these Dior scarves.
Our employees—inside the store and behind the scenes—sort of live for beautiful indulgences and stylish challenges. To inspire your gift giving, we took eight of our Seattle favorites into our designer collections and SPACE shop to show us what they’d love to give and get.
Keara Matthiesen, Stylist
Her job: Helps make our catalog, online and editorial images go POP.
Why we love her: Rocks yellow eyeshadow like it’s NBD, and wears tomorrow’s best trends today.
What she picked: Colorful accessories from SPACE designer Venessa Arizaga.
“Last year I gave all my girlfriends friendship bracelets. I mean, it’s just a perfect gift, right?”
Keara is wearing exclusive pieces from SPACE’s Winter Whites holiday shop;
a Vetements hoodie and a Simone Rocha skirt.
What else she picked: Comme des Garçons Kyoto fragrance. (Not pictured.)
“It’s the gift I always ask for! Practical, essential and used every day, so whenever I spray it I am reminded of the sweet person that got it for me. Morrissey wears it, and it has all my favorite scents: coffee, teak oil, vetiver, pachouli, amber and cedar. Simply the best scent for winter—and year round.”
Felicia Stapleton, Designer Sales
Her job: Helping you into everything you love, from St. John to Saint Laurent.
Why we love her: Her mega-watt smile lights up the floor—because it’s just so real.
What she picked: Dior scarves. (Dior ready-to-wear and accessories are available in-store only; please call 1.888.282.6060.)
“I’m an accessories girl. I always fawn over the ready-to-wear, but I end up with the scarves and jewelry. And I love giving those kinds of things, too, because—especially with a scarf—you just can’t really miss. You don’t have to worry about size, and everyone can add one to their wardrobe.”
“And these ones from Dior are so beautiful; the more I play with them the more I love them. When you have them in your closet you find more and more and more ways to wear them.”
“This pink one has a rose pattern embossed underneath the leopard pattern. It’s just very subtle and sophisticated but also a real statement. I’m in love—who wouldn’t be?”
Shawn Serven, SPACE Ambassador
His job: Steers you toward the raddest pieces from the most exciting emerging designers while keeping the other SPACE sales folks across the country on point, too.
Why we love him: With his fashion design background and fashion industry passion, he gives backbone and knowledge to our pure and instinctual attraction.
What he picked: A standout jewelry piece from Parisian designer Charlotte Chesnais.
“I love Charlotte’s faux-pearl ring. It’s the first time she’s ever worked with that material, and she made it exclusively for our holiday white shop so it’s really special. We’ve been selling a lot of them, but there are a few left.”
What else he picked: Comme des Garçons candles.
“I love giving really nice candles. These candles are so nice; the scents are amazing. Candles are one of those things you rarely buy for yourself, so you’re always happy when someone else gets one for you.”
Lauren Williams, Assistant Manager in Kids’ Shoes
Her job: Up until about a month ago, it was actually storewide; she used to be the styling sales coordinator, helping salespeople do what they do best. Now she has one of the cutest specialties in the store.
Why we love her: She’s always, always ready to help—and she’s always rocking good layers and strong lip color.
What she picked: Alexander McQueen bracelets.
“These look so cool when you stack them, so you can help someone start a new collection just by buying one. Of course, I wouldn’t mind if someone got me all three! I love mixed metals so I would put the silver and gold together for sure.”
Marie Ivanoff-Smith, Women’s Fashion Director
Her job: Knowing what’s going to be on the runways before the designers do. Yeah, really. Our trend forecasters watch fashion and culture like obsessive anthropologists, and they predict the future like Nostradamus.
Why we love her: She’s French. And therefore chic. And also just really fun to be around.
What she picked: A bright bucket bag from SPACE brand Creatures of Comfort.
“I love this line, and I love getting handbags. We can never have enough.”
“This color is so good—it looks so good with grey, it’s one of my favorite color combinations.”
Christopher Spence, Designer Sales
His job: For these purposes, let’s call him the husband whisperer; he knows what everyone’s wife wants.
Why we love her: He just moved to Seattle from Nordstrom in Tyson’s Corner, and it’s hard not to like the new guy when he’s this sweet and knowledgeable.
What he picked: A Valentino camel hair coat.
“It’s gorgeous and classic, but it’s got that twist—the Rockstuds. Women love the Rockstuds!”
“Men will ask me what to get and I always say cashmere, and beyond that, camel hair. They’re luxuries.”
Agazit Afeworki, SPACE Sales
Her job: Telling you which of the Molly Goddard dresses Rihanna wore last weekend, and which one looks best on you.
Why we love her: See above.
What she picked: A jewelry box from LA-based ceramics artist Bari Ziperstein of BZippy & Co.
“This is from our holiday white collection, and it’s one of the exclusives. You can put all your favorite jewelry in here, and you’d definitely want to have it out on your desk or table.”
What else she picked: Shoes from Brother Vellies.
“These are so cool; even though they’re not colorful, they really add to your look—it’s that texture. Is it risky to give shoes as a gift? Not if she’s a shoe girl!”
Justin Legget, Personal Stylist
His job: Women come to him, he tells them what to wear. Simple, fun and easy.
Why we love him: He’s adorable, his laugh is big and infectious, and he loves, loves, loves to see women having a good time with their wardrobe.
What he picked: A killer new hobo style bag from Loewe.
“This is for that fashion girl. It’s the new style, the edgy style. This is the bag you want to have for 2017. Am I right?”
