Hunter: It’s What to Wear to Next Year’s Music Festivals

If you polled every Sasquatch and Stagecoach-goer along with all the European kids at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds about their music festival must-have style pieces, we’re reasonably certain Hunter would come up awfully darn often. Or, maybe, always.

Smart, then, of Hunter creative director Alasdhair Willis to create their spring ’16 collection around “the muddy fields” of the outdoor music scene. Here’s more on the ripstop-tent runway and the tools the brand says you need to “survive the sun-soaked main stage” and the “after-hours downpour where adventure begins”. Oh, and the new brand style: Hunter’s Original Clog.

The looks were certainly iconic. Maybe what Willis and team meant when they referred to these looks as “tools”, is tools for getting into festival street-style lookbooks.

Nah, too many hard-working welded seams, waxed cotton, and guy-rope fastenings here. But those clogs:

And some major symbols of style were definitely in the house. As  “The Hunter” by Slaves sent men and women out in rubbers topped with suede and ombre capes and boots, there in the front row were Anna Wintour and Stella McCartney, who happens to be married to Willis.

And, in the program notes, at the bottom of the credits, was this: “I would also like to thank Kate, the original festival icon.”
