Giving the perfect gift is right up there on the list of things that feel amazing, but it just got even better. Nordstrom is now donating 1% of Gift Card proceeds to our nonprofit partners. That means when you give, you give twice. You give powerfully.
We believe in connecting with and empowering the communities we are part of, so we’re thrilled to be supporting organizations that positively impact our cities. As part of our 2015 focus on youth and kids, your Gift Card contributions will help Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Clubs, Special Olympics and other like-minded enterprises as they literally change the world.
For a closer look at how one Northwest-based charity transforms lives via a quintessential childhood experience, keep reading.
World Series champion pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen, began the Moyer Foundation as a way to serve children dealing with grief and family addiction. A cornerstone of their approach is Camp Mariposa, a free weekend camp for children affected by a family member’s substance abuse. Children meet other kids dealing with similar issues and receive support and tools for managing their complex emotions.
But they also get a place to just be a kid for the weekend. The Moyer Foundation works with top mental-health and youth organizations to program and organize the camp, with the goal being to break the family’s cycle of addiction.
“Camp really let me express not only myself but my feelings, too,” says a 13-year-old Mariposa camper that we got connected with through the Moyer Foundation. “It was a gateway to a fresh start, and helped me understand and learn how to cope in different ways.”
We’re honored to help kids like her, and the Moyers, and we couldn’t do it without you.
