Our location and theme: The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey. We chose the Ritz because of the unique beauty of the grounds, especially the Rose Garden (where our ceremony took place) and the access to the promenade by the marina. The exquisite food selections by Chef Tony were exactly what we were looking for, and the special events staff were really great—especially Zheilla Cordero Blackwell and Hernan Berlese.

Our palette was blush, gold and white. We went for classic elegance and were so pleased with the creations of our florist, Inna Savluk Upperco of Butterfly Floral & Event Design.

Favorite moment: We exited our wedding via the promenade in a blown ’41 Willys, which was built and driven by my dad.

The dress: My stylist, Whitney Quinlan, is a very talented and sweet girl who understood my taste perfectly! I chose the very first dress I tried on, a beautiful white Anne Barge gown from the Blue Willow Collection. I also selected my flower girl and bridesmaid dresses with her help. To add personality to my dress, we decided on a blush satin sash tied simply around the waist. Later on, we ordered matching satin bowties for Yohei and our ring bearer, and pocket squares for our fathers, brothers and my grandfather. The groomsmen also wore matching blush satin ties.

Advice for other brides-to-be: Enjoy every moment of the experience, because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event! And get a great photographer; my photographers—Ellice and John Boone of ES Studios—were so awesome.

Where was the honeymoon? We honeymooned in Japan for 10 days, mostly staying in Tokyo. We visited my husband’s family in and around Tokyo, and also stayed at his aunt and uncle’s bed and breakfast in Yugawara, which has natural hot springs! We also visited Kyoto and Osaka, where we had an amazing dinner at Sakamoto, a Kaiseki-style restaurant where my husband’s brother apprenticed before opening his restaurant in Seattle.
