8 Beauty Products to Take to the Gym

’Twas the season to indulge, friends, but now ’tis the season to atone. Throughout the month of January, we’ll be bringing you all sorts of Wellness Realness—information and inspiration you can use to get out of lax mode and into good-for-you mode. Or at least stop eating cookies for lunch and skipping your morning run.

Amanda Torres isn’t just part of the team of knowing voices at the other end of the line when you connect with our online Beauty Stylist program. She’s also a self-described gym rat, which makes her the perfect person to help you fill your virtual gym bag with sweat-proof beauty products for your workout.

“My love for fitness stems from a resolution-turned-reality when I lost 75 pounds between 2013 and 2014,” Torres told us. “I find myself at the gym five nights a week, and I know that even with my extensive beauty background, being beautiful at the gym can be tough!

Notice she doesn’t say impossible. Nope. Our beauty pro has the eight products you need—and lots of good tips too. In fact, we’ll just slide on over and give her the floor.

HAIR First, make sure to have hair ties that won’t leave a trace after they’re removed. I love Emi Jay hair ties ; as an added bonus, these come in great colors, so I always match them to my gym shoes. We all know that the humidity from our hard work can leave hair unmanageable, frizzy and flat. To alleviate this, take a pump of hair serum—I enjoy the Philip B Anti-Frizz —and twist your hair up into a loose bun. After your session is complete, spray your roots with dry shampoo and the loose bun will turn into loose waves. I love the Batiste Dry Shampoo for this.

SKIN I cannot be without my purity wipes from philosophy . They can remove eye and face makeup and take up almost no room in a gym bag. Typically I like to wear a little bit of foundation—even at the gym—and I never feel guilty when it’s a BB cream since those are like light foundations that won’t clog your pores. Dior’s Diorskin Nude is my favorite for its ability to look natural and still perfect.

EYES and LIPS To keep the look natural while giving my eyes some definition, I like to wear a touch of mascara. Kevyn Aucoin’s curling mascara doesn’t smudge or budge and it comes right off with warm water. To give lips a touch of hydrating color, I like to apply the Fresh Sugar lip treatment with my ring finger and get that just-bitten look. After a workout I like to reward myself with a spritz of facial mist—Mario Badescu facial spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater comes in a travel size and feels super refreshing.

AND REALLY … I feel the most confident when I’m wearing bright-colored shoes, jackets and accessories. So make sure to have fun with your gym wardrobe and rock your power color!
