The brand: Ashley Williams
The history: She’s only been done with school for five years, but Ashley Williams is a London Fashion Week standout, thanks to her cheeky wordplay (example: studded diamante barrettes that spell out GIRLS RULE) , super-warm knitwear and celebrity style squad. Her fans include Rihanna, Harry Styles and Alexa Chung.
The designer: Williams won inclusion in the prestigious Fashion East design incubator just a year after graduating from the University of Westminster. Though her clothes are stocked at luxury boutiques, she works in East London, a hotbed of emerging trends, indie bands and rising art stars.
The show: After serenading guests with a violin rendition of the Jurassic Park theme song, Williams sent models through a former church in scale-stamped leather suits, blue floral swing dresses and new versions of her signature cropped hoodies in acid lilac and pale green. Much to the delight of jet-lagged guests, the closing music was “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.

The verdict: Her new t-shirts may say “Thanks, Nature,” but we’ll say “Thanks, Ashley,” too.
