You can tell a lot about a person when you know where they spend their time—and, as it turns out, the same goes for brands. We fell in love with the SPACE line Simon Miller last NYFW, when they turned a Chinatown loft into an oasis of denim, cashmere, incense and broad-leafed plants, and they’ve since come to define a sort of luxurious comfort—a way of being perfectly off-duty and perfectly together at the same time.

Because we know this week is going to be a doozy, we asked creative directors Daniel Corrigan and Chelsea Hansford (above) and wholesale manager Cheysa Santana where we’d find the Simon Miller crew decompressing, relaxing, refueling and re-normalizing before and after their September 10 presentation (you can follow me on Instagram to catch images).
Their picks—semi-secret botanical hideaways and neighborhood hangout spots—go hand in hand in the natural, cozy, laid-back and multi-layered vibe of their brand.
The Flower District; West 28th Street
Where New York turns into a forest of tropical plants and trees fit for loft ceilings—failing an actual escape from the urban jungle, here’s where you’ll find a jungle inside the urban expanse. Wandering these blocks, where car horns mingle with jade plants, is a solid palette cleanser.
The Bowery Hotel
Says Cheysa: “This is my favorite place for post-Fashion Week crowds.” The Lower East Side property invokes lots of nostalgia, but Gotham City hoteliers Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson installed threadbare history and a warm-wood
golden glow (and ensured excellent cocktails) in 2007. And the Fashion Pack has been grateful ever since.
Doughnut Planet
No less than Cheysa’s “favorite place on the planet,” this Chelsea neighborhood spot is all about besting the doughnut craze with creme brulee-filled specimens and a peanut butter and banana yeasted variety. Because sometimes the only salve for Fashion Week wounds is sugar.
And spice. And salt. Together at last.
Miss Lilly’s
For, says Chelsea, “a good juice and a quick spinach empanada.” The sunny Jamaican diner on West Houston has a sister outpost in Dubai
in case you were wondering—and one on Avenue A, too.
Silver Towers
Another sort of city oasis, this Noho spot features an IM Pei housing structure fronted by a Pablo Picasso sculpture.
Chelsea calls it a “a total secret gem with a awesome grass area where we take our pup and just relax.”
Great Jones Spa
Facials and massages: very necessary, and this is Chelsea’s go-to. And while the September run of Fashion Week doesn’t exactly make a
person crave a nice long hot tub soak (the city itself is a veritable sauna right now), the spa’s revered water lounge—complete with chakra-light
steam and a cold water plunge—is always a good idea.
Great Jones Cafe
First opened in 1983 and beloved ever since for the no-frills vibe, killer old school juxebox, and honest, affordable fare, this downtown favorite is a unanimous Simon Miller Fashion Week pick. Maybe because perfect denim goes so well inside the coral-colored storefront, and maybe because the menu skews Southern, it’s the kind of spot that always feels welcoming, rain or shine.
