Legendary Party-Girl Glamour from Bobbi Brown and Jenny Packham | Backstage Beauty

Jenny Packham’s Spring 2017 collection deliberately drew on a 1943 art exhibit by Peggy Guggenheim titled “Exhibition by 31 Women.” Naturally, Packham and her studio are the artists behind her creations, but 31 famous women were the muses for her festive frocks this season.

Some of the female luminaries who inspired a dress were Elizabeth Taylor, Iman, Florence Welch, Frida Kahlo, Jean Seberg, Julianne Moore, Catherine Deneuve, Jennifer Lawrence and, happily, Peggy Guggenheim. Although each dress had a singular personality, Packham’s overarching theme seemed to be classic femininity with a undeniable streak of individuality. Most silhouettes were luxurious, undeniably so. Some dripped beads, others shone with sequins, many were overwhelmed by gold, others presented colorfully embroidered blooms.

Bobbi Brown gave the models party-ready looks with defined eyes (sometimes under oversized sunglasses) and chiseled cheekbones. The makeup was chic and dramatic, perfect for a night out paired with a pretty, signature dress.

How to get Bobbi Brown’s party-girl glamour:_b4t9241

Bobbi Brown’s makeup amplified the celebratory style of the dresses. Flawless skin was given a subtle wash of pink blush, the perfect backdrop for the dramatically diffused eye. Layered and smudged with a mahogany shadow and finished with bold black mascara, the eye takes centerstage to her delicately stained rich nude lips.

1. Bobbi and team began each application with the Hydrating Face and Eye Cream to make sure the skin was smooth and well-moisturized before applying the foundation.

2. Bobbi described the look itself as soft, pretty, modern rock ‘n’ roll. The smudgy eye with eye gloss creates this cool party look. The eye gloss (in Bare Beach) is designed to stay put, but using a concealer with a dusting of powder first almost guarantees it will last and not move. Bobbi had always used lip gloss on the eye during Fashion Week, but that didn’t really work for real people so her team created this product.

3. Mahogany and taupe eyeshadow gave the look the depth it needed under the gloss.
4. She used her retouching pencils and retouching wand because they are easy and quick when used under the eyes, plus they make you look like you’re not wearing an make-up.
Our beauty director Marynell fully endorses these pencils: “From my own experience I can tell you that these retouching face pencils are incredible. I have used them to cover dark circles, freckles, age spots, etc. with great success!

5. Pink blush on the cheeks and Rich Nude Art Stick on the lips added just the right amount of color without distracting from the eye, which was the star of the show!
