Before Paris Fashion Week takes over in full force, we’re taking another minute to reflect on Milan with the first lady of Italy’s legendary knitwear family, Missoni.

We chatted with Angela Missoni about the looks in her spring collection, and what’s new and exciting—and traditional and customary—at the beloved brand.
What was on your mood board for the spring collection? What were you working toward?
The beauty of primary patterns—like stripes and zigzags, and bright colors, and the astonishing results of their most free, unusual and unpredictable combinations.
I had on my board pictures of tribal body paint, and decorations used by African women.
What’s your goal when you put together each runway presentation?
I want to translate to all environments the idea of stripes and colors crossing. They are contaminating the stage and catwalk of the show—like in a painting or in an art environment.
And what do you after the show to celebrate when you’ve accomplished that?
We have a big dinner party with lots of friends—in Missoni’s colorful style!
