The Thread spent a day out in the city with a handful of our friends from the t.b.d. Department’s buying team. We came with a camera, and they came with their favorite pieces for fall and beyond—not to mention enough style to stop a train. We’re sharing how these five fashion-savvy ladies create unique, personalized looks by incorporating different wardrobe essentials that are modern, mixable and full of classic cool.
First up is Kristi, whose casual striped tee gets dressed up with a flowy skirt, strappy sandals and a denim jacket that’s perfect for layering. Here’s how Kristi adds Something Striped to her ladylike style.
What I Do: I’m a site merchandiser for t.b.d., which means I work with the buying team to execute the online strategy. I love t.b.d. and I love all things digital, so it’s pretty much a dream job—the perfect combination of my passions.

My Essential: I love adding unexpected prints or patterns to an outfit. I tried some print-mixing with this look… my striped T-shirt paired back to a fun skirt in a simple silhouette. This T-shirt would also be in my weekend bag, to go with skinny jeans and cute sneakers. For something like a girls’ night, I’d dress it up with bold red lips, a leather jacket and nude heels.
