Poketo Hosts Olivia Kim at L.A.’s Line Hotel

Olivia Kim—our Director of Creative Projects and Pop-In Shop Curator—hopped a plane to Los Angeles last week to share cocktails and conversation with our new friends at L.A. boutique/gallery Poketo.

The casual soirée took place at The Line Hotel, a chic new spot in L.A.’s Koreatown (K-Town for short), which boasts a mini Poketo shop and newsstand nestled conveniently in its lobby. Olivia—along with Poketo founders Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan, their staff and a bevy of artistic acquaintances—gathered in a posh suite to admire one another’s work, talk art and design, and enjoy more than a couple laughs.

Keep reading for photos from the evening’s proceedings—and be sure to check out Pop-In @ Nordstrom Welcomes Poketo while it lasts! This Sunday, August 3, is the last day.

Welcome! “HERE,” mentioned on the sign above, is a series of intimate events that brings artists, designers, filmmakers and influencers together to converse in a casual, living room–like setting.

Mixing and mingling in The Line Hotel’s elegantly industrial interior.

The evening’s stylish and talented guests included renaissance men and women like Claire L. Evans of L.A.-based, Portland-raised band Yacht.

Coffee table inspo—including Eric Trine’s leather coasters and our own Nordstrom x Poketo zine, which appeared in selected stores and featured a full-length Q&A between Olivia, Ted and Angie.

A glimpse at The Line’s spa-like bathroom. Pardon us while we book a reservation…

Cheers!

Nordstrom Designer Preview 2014

Last Thursday, more than 550 fashion lovers from all over the country converged in a cavernous cruise-ship terminal on the outskirts of Seattle to join us in celebrating our 28th annual Designer Preview.

Nordstrom friends like Vogue Market Editor Cynthia Smith, Seattle Art Museum president Jaennae’ Dinius, rising musician Hollis and our Director of Creative Projects Olivia Kim—among countless other notables—mingled during an evening complete with a cocktail reception, an incredible runway show and shopping fall ’14 collections. Read more to see some of our favorite highlights from this stylish soiree.

After cocktails and hors d’oeuvre, guests headed to the fall ’14 runway show that our teams put together featuring a number of looks from just some of our favorite designer labels, like Lanvin, Dries Van Noten and Christian Dior. Runway favorite DJ Javier Peral supplied the tunes; listen to the soundtrack he created for us, which will live on for posterity alongside those he’s designed for Jason Wu, Kenzo, Carolina Herrera and loads of other designers.

After the runway show, attendees descended on the racks to pre-order the styles from the show and we threw open the doors to the loading docks outside, where models and guests alike were treated to fragrant crepes and delicious donuts courtesy of our favorite food trucks.

Guests and models line up for food-truck treats.

The sweetest part? The party helped raise $190,000 to fund the Seattle Art Museum’s upcoming Pop Departures exhibition, which launches in October.

Our thanks to all who were able to join us; we hope to see everyone again next year! For more happenings near you, check out what’s coming up on the calendar at your favorite Nordstrom.
